"The Female Eye: Women at the Bundy"
to Oct 23

"The Female Eye: Women at the Bundy"

Please come to the Opening Reception: Friday, Sept. 30 from 5-8 pm. The Exhibit will be open starting October 1st on Saturdays and Sundays through October 23rd, including Monday, Columbus Day.

The show features the works of artist Candy Barr. Sculptures and paintings by Boston artist Marjorie Kaye; monoprints by Greta Anderson of Hunterdon County, NJ; mobile sculpture by Charlotte Potter of Norfolk, VA; and an exterior installation of digitally created art by Gloria King Merritt of Woodstock, VT are also on view.

Lead artist Candy Barr has been described as "a true master of color". Barr is well-known in Vermont, and has been widely exhibited, most recently at the Watergate Gallery in Washington, DC and the Casa de Artistas Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.  Barr says, "My paintings are fresh in color, light in tone, and reflect an immediate response to the subjects being painted with a sense of harmony.  I paint quickly and in response to my environment as it constantly changes.  Through this experience working in plein-air or from models, my understanding of the unique aspects of the direction of light, atmosphere, and color is perpetually developing."

Barr's works in oil on board and canvas will be included as well as some sculpture.  With over 50 years of painting experience Barr brings a breadth of knowledge of art history, exquisite skill for color, and a deep understanding of what makes paint come to life. A resident of Warren, Candy has been an integral part of the artistic environment of the Mad River Valley since arriving in 1976.

The Bundy Modern Gallery, a recently renovated, mid-century modern gem, is located at 361 Bundy Rd, Waitsfield, just 2 miles south of Waitsfield off Route 100. The building is spectacular in true modern style with all structural elements visible:  walls of glass, brick parapets, massive wooden beams, and Vermont slate floors.

The exhibition will be open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Columbus Day Monday from 12 noon to 5 pm, or by appointment.
